Safety systems at the Michel Delving end of the bridge. At the top-right can be seen the large wooden barrier that rotates about the screw and blocks the line when the bridge is open. To the left are two black microswitches, one operated when the barrier is down and the other when the bridge is in position. These ensure that power only reaches the track when either the barrier is closed and the bridge is open, or the barrier is open and the bridge is closed. The switch on the right is a local override so that Grey Havens station can take control of a short section of track (where the coach is) leading to Michel Delving. When the barrier is closed it automatically resets the switch to the down position so that control is returned to Michel Delving. The plug below the switch carries track power between the two control panels. |
