THE SHIRE RAILWAY (SR)
The first company to be formed, based at Michel Delving in the west. InterCity services (under the brand-names 'Shire InterCity' and 'Shire Pullman') operate to all four major stations. Local passenger services include the regional North Shire and South Shire routes, and the Tuckbrough and Overhill routes. Freight transportation is a major service. Motive power is predominantly steam, although a few diesel locomotives are used for local passenger services and shunting.

THE BUCKLAND & BREE RAILWAY (B&BR)
The second company formed and based at Bree in the east. The B&BR specialises in InterCity services (under the brand-name 'Bree InterCity') via the four main stations, and freight transport. Motive power is all diesel except for one electric locomotive.

THE STADDLE & COOMBE RAILWAY (SCR)
Links the three stations of Staddle, Coombe and Bree in the east. The Army barracks at Staddle is a major customer of the railway which provides transport for military hardware and troops. Civilian passenger services between the towns are increasingly important whilst freight services are comparatively minor.

THE KRONICWESTMARCH RAILWAY (KWR)
Serves the Westmarch region, west of the Shire, to Grey Havens. The company's flagship service is the Advanced Passenger Train (APT). It operates the 'Westmarch Link', between the railway's West Delving terminus and Michel Delving, with a single coach passenger service. Freight and limited express passenger services also use the line.

BREE-RIVENDELL INTERCITY KONSORTIUM (BRICK)
Operates a non-stop InterCity service between Michel Delving, Bree and the Rivendell region (via the Rivendell junction at Bree). Class 90 and Class 91 locomotives haul a rake of Mk.3 coaches and there is also a Class 43 HST set. BRICK services are acknowledged as the fastest, smartest and smoothest available.
