1	Shire Railway formed, based at Michel Delving.
2	Michel Delving to Hobbiton constructed (initially single track but quickly doubled).
3	Overhill branch opened and spur to the Hobbiton mine constructed.
4	Double track laid between Hobbiton to Tuckbrough.
5	North Shire line from Hobbiton to Buckland (single track from Bywater Junction where it spits from the South Shire route)
6	South Shire line from Tuckbrough to Buckland (single track through the difficult, hilly terrain of the South Shire)
7	Buckland & Bree Railway formed, based at Bree.
8	Single line constructed between Buckland and Bree, following route of East Road to avoid the Old Forest. Platforms constructed to the south and alongside Shire platform at Buckland. Line approaches Bree from the north.
9	Staddle and Coombe Railway formed, based at Bree.
10	Staddle branch constructed.
11	Westmarch Railway formed, based at Michel Delving.
12	Westmarch Railway constructs route from Grey Havens to its West Delving terminus.
13	BRICK formed (consortium including B&BR and other investors). Single line constructed between Bree and Rivendell passing north around Bree and following the Great East Road, via Weathertop.
14	New single track line constructed between Buckland and Bree through the Old Forest and across the Barrowdowns. This more direct route reaches Bree from the south west and new through platforms are built so that non-stopping trains to Rivendell no longer have to reverse.
15	Westmarch Railway constructs West Delving Link from West Delving station to Michel Delving. Westmarch Railway renamed KronicWestmarch Railway.
The layout represents the extent of the railways and the status of the companies at this point.
16	KronicWestmarch Railway constructs a double track line south of Michel Delving linking West Delving to Hobbiton, bypassing the single track bottleneck of the West Delving Link.
17	KronicWestmarch Railway renamed Arthedain Railway and constructs route from Hobbiton north to Annuminas.
18	Shire Railway, Buckland & Bree Railway and BRICK merge, in response to increasing commercial pressure from the Arthedain Railway. Company renamed Arnor Railway in a move of naming one-upmanship.
19	Arnor Railway buys controlling stake in Staddle and Coombe Railway.
20	The route from Buckland to Bree through the Old Forest and the Barrowdowns is upgraded to a high speed, double track line. Buckland station reconstructed.
21	Line from Bree to Fornost constructed.
22	The North Shire line from Hobbiton to Buckland is upgraded to a high speed, double track line.
23	Construction starts on the Cardolan line, running south from Bree to Tharbad, generally following the North-South Road except in the north where it runs further east, passing close to the South Downs.
24	Construction of line to Erynvorn. Route follows the Brandywine River towards the coast, serving the growing population along the Baranduin valley.
25	Cardolan line reaches West Rohan at Helm's Deep.
26	All railways nationalised. Arnor Railway and Arthedain Railway become part of the Middle Earth Railway (Eriador Region).
